Should British singing sensation Susan Boyle get a makeover?
I was wowed by Susan Boyle’s talent while watching her clip on youtube. It took me only two seconds? to be a fan and another two seconds to realize how stupid I am to judge her the second she walked the stage.
We may admit it or not but its quite natural for man to judge a person or some thing by its appearance. I know I am not the only one who judged her by the way she looks. It’s just that we have one idea in mind of what “stars” should be. People all dolled up… perfect hair, perfect pearly-white teeth, flawless skin, slim and slender body. And with that idea, those talentless people become “stars”. Sad. But true.
Thousands of women get depressed because the think they dont look good.? Like they think they’re so fat that they compromise health, they think they have ugly skin that they fake their tan and look stupid.
Now, does Susan represents us all? Doesn’t she give us hope? I think the Susan Boyle phenomena is giving us a lesson. That in this crazy, depressing world… we have? our own place and be happy. She is a tonic to all the bad things that we hear from news. She’s an inspiration.
My fear is that, she will be changed by people around her. She will be repackaged and be like “them”.
I know that physical appearance is important. And I believe that Susan is beautiful in her own right. Like we all are.
